Fire-Resilient by Design: Building for Tomorrow’s Wildfire Reality

11:00am - 11:50am

Workshop Session B

Come learn the latest on wildfire resilient building practices. In this session, you will learn about reasons why you should consider building and retrofitting your house to better protect your home and community. Wildland-urban interface fires are becoming more frequent. Insurance and building costs are more expensive. This workshop will explore the latest research and identify vulnerabilities to structural damage through ember exposure, radiant heat and direct flame contact. These ideas will be presented through the lens of FireSmart initiatives and using current research through the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, NIST and others. The workshop will end on presenting and identifying various solutions to how to harden your property.
