From Ideas to Action: Funding Sustainable Buildings

3:30pm - 4:45pm

Closing Session

Turning sustainable building ideas into real projects often comes down to finding the right funding, partnerships, and support. This interactive closing session will introduce participants to funding opportunities and strategies that can help reduce the cost of sustainable building, retrofit, and community projects. Representatives from funding organizations will share their priorities, explain how organizations can access support, and highlight creative approaches to funding through partnerships, industry associations, nonprofits, and government programs. The session will then shift into a “Living Library,” where participants can visit project tables, meet organizations that have successfully accessed funding, ask questions, and exchange ideas. Designed as a practical and engaging finale to the day, the session will flow directly into the Symposium’s closing networking reception.

Alberta Real Estate Foundation

The Alberta Real Estate Foundation (AREF) supports projects that strengthen Alberta’s real estate industry while creating lasting benefits for communities across the province. Established in 1991 under the Real Estate Act, the Foundation makes strategic investments in research, education, partnerships, and initiatives focused on three key areas: real estate leadership, the built environment, and land and water. Since its inception, AREF has invested more than $35 million in over 900 initiatives across Alberta, supporting projects that improve the sustainability and livability of communities, advance industry knowledge, and promote responsible land and water use.
