The Power of P4: How Nonprofits Can Lead and Partner in Financing Community-Rooted Housing

9:30am - 10:20am

Workshop Session A

Across Alberta and Western Canada, nonprofits are key to solving the housing crisis—but many lack the tools to engage in capital projects. This interactive session introduces the P4 model (Public, Private, Philanthropic, and Social Profit) and shares replicable strategies for building affordable, climate-conscious, community-rooted housing. Drawing on examples like Canmore’s response to the Bow Valley housing crisis, presenters will highlight how nonprofits can partner with funders and municipalities to lead change—even without large-scale fundraising capacity.
